Story Overview

Stevie Marlowe has always been an alternative trendsetter. Starting out with bootlegged electronica remixes of popular songs from her dorm room, she ends up ditching her college degree to pursue independent DJ-ing full-time. She sets rules for herself: always have an original take, only make the kind of music she loves, and never get tied up with the corporate titans of the recording industry. But when one of her remixes goes mega-viral, she lands herself in some serious legal trouble with one of the world's biggest labels, Pacific Records.

Benton West personifies one word: stoic. The incredibly brilliant and skillful CEO doesn't run one of the world's largest record labels by terror or force. He's calculative, discerning, and patient. So when an eccentric, beautiful young woman gets brought into his office, identified as the repeat intellectual property thief that his team has been working to track down for months, he doesn't seek to prosecute her. Instead, he thinks of how he can use her impressive talents for his company's benefit.

But as Stevie spends more time with Benton, she realizes that something between the man and his veneer doesn't add up. Will Stevie find out Benton's secret before she's forced to leave him and her beloved music behind?
